South Node in the 1st House

The South Node in the first house describes self-reliance as the practised setting: managing alone, deciding alone, and rarely asking.

The tradition reads the South Node as an established capacity rather than a defect. Here it is independence, decisiveness and a strong sense of one's own outline, all of which work.

The difficulty is that it is the automatic answer. With the North Node opposite in the seventh, the growth is described as relationship, and a first-house South Node solves things before anybody else is consulted.

It is commonly associated with people who are genuinely capable on their own and slightly puzzled about why partnership is harder than it looks.

What this placement does well and what it costs

What it is good at

Acting without a committee. In a crisis this is a real asset and is read as such.

What it asks for

Other people experience the decision as already made, because it usually was.

The two halves of this placement

A planet says what, a house says where in a life it happens. The sign it sits in says how, and that is a third reading again.

This placement needs your birth time

Your South Node sign depends only on the date. Its house depends on the horizon at the moment you were born, and the whole framework rotates by one house roughly every two hours. An hour of error moves about half a house, which is frequently the difference between this page and the one next to it.

If a free chart gave you houses without asking for a time, it assumed one, usually noon or midnight. Check the placement before you build anything on it.

Where is your South Node?

The chart is free, takes a birth time, and gives you every planet by sign and by house, with the aspects between them.
